Giving back
Being a woman is difficult and it's important for women to support each other. This is why I like to support nonprofit organizations that help support women and their children. Each quarter, I choose a charity dedicated to women's empowerment and donate 10 percent of my sales from the first week of that season.
Winter 2020/2021
In memory of my late mom, for winter 2020/2021 I chose Laura's House in Orange County, Calif. My mom was a longtime supporter and donor to Laura's House and I was grateful to be able to visit and personally deliver a check for $800.
From the Laura's House website: Laura's House provides unduplicated domestic violence-related services to the 915,000 residents of Orange County, California and beyond. Over the past 24 years, Laura's House has provided shelter and supportive services to more than 5,000 abused women, men and children and counseling, life skills education and legal advocacy to over 55,000 persons.
Fall 2020
As a native Californian who was raised by a single mom for a few years of my early childhood, I chose Single Mom Strong as the organization to be the recipient of my quarterly donation.
Founded by single mother Tara Taylor, Single Mom Strong is:
- A community, meeting the need for belonging and love for single mothers and their children
- A place of empowerment: for single mothers, through education and opportunity for balance; for their children through education and positive relationships
- A means for betterment: with their children in safe, quality child care, single mothers can better provide for their families and achieve personal goals
Through proceeds from sales, TWC was able to donate $750.
Summer of 2020

The #challengeaccepted cause trended on Instagram in mid-2020. When it was at its peak, I researched the origins and learned that it traced back to bringing light to injustices against women in Turkey. People there are used to seeing black-and-white photos of women who are victims of femicide — women murdered at the hands of men.
Learning this moved me and inspired me to start using my sales to support charities. Small Projects of Instanbul was the recipient of a $300 donation.
